As the world moves further into 2018, people have begun predicting what will happen in the coming months.
In 2000 and again in 2012, conspiracy theorists thought that the world was supposed to end. Luckily, this year the predictions aren’t as extreme.
In the years past, the world has witnessed the introduction of the smartphone, construction of flat screen televisions and the introduction of wifi. This year, the students at Hanover have a slightly different idea of what’s to come in the technology industry.
“I expect us to have a new iPhone this year because Apple is always coming out with new phones,” junior Emily Pavey said.
When World War II began, nobody except conspiracy theorists had suspected a war to begin. For 2018 however, there are some new ideas on foreign policy.
“I fully expect another World War to begin by 2019. There is too much tension between countries for one not to happen,” junior Jacob Hamilton hypothesized.
Not only do global relations look bleak to HHS students, some also forecast the decline of America’s economy.
“In 2018, I think we’ll have another Great Depression or something like that because, even though we’re no longer in a recession, our economy seems kind of unstable and I think it’s just going to get worse,” sophomore Taylor Little said.
When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie split, the Internet blew up. That was all anyone talked about. Now, in the new year, there are a few more splits and a handful of new relationships expected to occur.
“I don’t like Millie Bobby Brown and Jacob Sartorius so I think they’re going to break up this year and I don’t think Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez will last either,” junior Jenna Mullins said.
2017 was a year filled with ups and downs but whatever presents itself in 2018, there is no doubt that the new year will bring significant memories and new innovations.
