Hanover activities director Bob Stratton has decided to move on after this school year to become the athletic director at The Steward School. He has served as Hanover’s athletic director since the school opened in 2003. Along with his duties as athletic director, Stratton served as the chairman of VHSL’s Central Region.
The Hawks sports teams have become a dominant force in the region under Stratton. Hanover has captured one team state title (softball) along with four individual state titles (wrestling). In addition, the Hawks have won numerous regional championsips.
“Hanover High School has been the highlight of my 34 year educational career.” Stratton said. “To create the foundation and set the culture of an educational building is something that is very special as I look back,” he said.
Athletics have become a core part of the atmosphere at Hanover due to the success of every program.
“Being able to work with Mr. Sadler and Dr. Gresham who both understand how vitally critical a good athletic program is to the overall well being of the school has helped move Hanover High School athletics forward into the future.” he added.
Stratton leaves Hanover with a heavy heart as he reflects upon his time at the school.
“I will always have a special place in my heart for the memories that I will walk out the door with on my last day serving as the athletic director of a school I love very much.”
